2003 was officially declared "Year of the Russian Federation in Ukraine" and Moscow region was the first Russian region to represent its economic and cultural potential. The opening ceremony was attended by the Ambassodor of the Russian Federation to Ukraine Victor Chernomyrdin, Ukranian Government Ministers and Deputies of Ukranian Parliament, Moscow region Governor Boris Gromov as well as Government Ministers of Moscow region. On the 23th of April President of Ukraine Leonid Kuchma attended "Ukranian House" Art Palace and had a look at the exposition of Moscow region organized within the framework of " Year of the Russian Federation in Ukraine".
